OUR PROGRAMS

This summer, with the help of a grant from the American Samoa Humanities Council, our organization will offer programming for children and youth on our island.

Our programs will culminate in the first annual Samoan Arts and Research Conference on July 29, 2021 (see more information on our Upcoming Events page. 

Palm Trees

CHILDREN'S SIAPO WORKSHOP

This program is designed to help children ages 8-11 who are interested in the arts develop as artists with thorough knowledge of traditional Samoan art forms.

The students will spend 4 weeks, from July 6 - July 29, studying with Reggie and Uilisone Wilson to create and design their own tapa boards. 

​

This program is free to students who are accepted. 

YOUTH RESEARCH PROGRAM

This program will involve students ages 15-17. Our youth researchers will develop a group presentation exploring the connections between tatau, siapo, and wood-carving, as well as the connections between Samoan art and the art of other indigenous peoples. 

​

This program will take place between July 6 and July 29, and is great for students interested in art, art history, museum studies, anthropology, etc. 

​

This program is free to students who are accepted.
